Just the Two of Us

Just the Two of Us

After 35+ years of marriage, two wonderful sons, living and working in Australia, Sweden, UK and USA we are now 'just the two of us' plus a very spoilt Shitzu.

Following five years at The Sandhurst Club it is time to downsize. Our criteria - build a new home in a development within ten minutes of John's Sandhurst Golf Club, access to Monash and Eastlink Freeways, all new infrastructure and proposed services, recycled water and no Management Company or Body Corporate Fees.

We invite you to view our journey as we build with Carlisle Homes our 'Savannah 28' at 'The Avenue at Casey', a masterplanned community meeting all our criteria.

Rectification Work Update

Surprise phone call from Carlisle Site Supervisor this morning -
Handover scheduled for Friday 25th March!

Site Supervisor and Construction Manager confident all rectification work will be completed.  Work underway with relevant tradesmen on-site.
Fantastic if achieved, will be interesting to check on progress early next week.

I informed SS there will be no Handover until 'total completion and new home presentation'.
Our Independent Inspector has spoken to CM on our behalf and will also inspect house next week.

Are we really that close!!!

Just want it done and no more tradesmen in our house.

  5. Did SS or CM have any excuses as to why they missed some of these bigger items?

  6. We have asked in writing and questioned face to face. Never a straight answer other than will be rectified. Surely if our inspector picked up what were their's doing? Did they Report and Carisle hoped would not be noticed?....we'd be disappointed if the case.

Kevin from New Home Inspections was genuinely stunned being a Carlisle Home. CM very approachable and professional making all rectification decisions in consultation with Kevin. We have stood firm on Report and recommendations.

  9. Deb how much did it cost to get your water meter moved? Was it by the metre or a flat rate? Who did you contact to do it?

  10. Janine, info when I did last year....
    SE Water -
    Priority Plumbing
    Melanie 8788 4097

    Sideways move only:

600mm before water connected to house = $132

    600mm Once connected to house = $332

great than 600mm, can you believe = $2090!

    Melanie was very helpful.
I organized relocation, marked with a peg and note to Mr SE Tap man.

  12. So close Tash, it has been an excellent build...albeit the hiccups at the end. Carlisle are on to everything and out to please. Now the hurdle to get in and settled, I'm weary already.
Best advice - keep informed and Independent Inspection.

  13. Bloody hell $2000 to move more than 2 feet!!!!!! We don't have taps yet I was just anticipating having to move them. At that rate they will stay wherever they are put. Saw action today at your house Deb did you get my text?

  14. Highway robbery isn't it...I know someone who had to pay it because taps were smack bang in the middle of the driveway. We moved ours out of alignment of front door ($132). Having wide path to front door with rendered planter box adjacent to hide those ugly taps.

That text was you!!!!! I was at work and had no clue, you know me. Thought I was clever reading it. I guessed it was either the garage door people or a thief having a laugh!!!!!

John was home and he too saw the door being removed. Work inside almost completed, just painting. Brickwork????? Friday will be a miracle.

  16. Hey Shelley,

So Carlisle say, we're not convinced.
Three weeks since PCI and Independent Inspection, disappointed only last few days Tradesmen on site? Our Inspector booked for late tomorrow - will cancel if not completed or cleaned for inspection. Keeping calm.

  17. Deep breaths Deb, you may be surprised! So you went down to Telstra eh!

  18. Very deep breaths Janine....as at Wednesday night - outstanding:
Painting from rectification work, garage door not reinstalled, re-cleaning of bricks, inside clean, another attempt at render not acceptable etc....in addition, the stormwater drain (downpipe removed to re-brick) is chocker block full of brick mortar!! Looks like we'll be cancelling our Inspector for tomorrow. Friday Handover? not until Kevin has inspected and we are presented our new home.

Telstra Shop was useless - called this morning, obvioulsy you read my post on H1 - some good news, I will have communication this Century.
