Just the Two of Us
Just the Two of Us
After 35+ years of marriage, two wonderful sons, living and working in Australia, Sweden, UK and USA we are now 'just the two of us' plus a very spoilt Shitzu.
Following five years at The Sandhurst Club it is time to downsize. Our criteria - build a new home in a development within ten minutes of John's Sandhurst Golf Club, access to Monash and Eastlink Freeways, all new infrastructure and proposed services, recycled water and no Management Company or Body Corporate Fees.
We invite you to view our journey as we build with Carlisle Homes our 'Savannah 28' at 'The Avenue at Casey', a masterplanned community meeting all our criteria.

HANDOVER CANCELLED
Unfortunately, there will be no 'Handover' tomorrow.....it was clear Wednesday evening although rectification work was complete; finishing details, painting, re-render and 'New Home Presentation' cleaning would not be to the standard we expect from Carlisle Homes nor ready for the return of our Independent Inspector today.
Following telephone calls and discussions with SS and CM on-site this morning we re-iterated our expectations of presentation - professional, not rushed with both parties 100% satisfied.
Consequently, Independent Inspection will be re-scheduled for early next week - Handover to follow.
Sooooo close!
Some good news - we will have communication this Century; Telstra are to install copper pipe in our street by 20th April.

Disappointing but a good decision. Not worth accepting near enough is good enough. A day or two is not going to make that much difference and it gives you time to make sure everything is spot on. You will be busy over your holidays Deb!
ReplyDeleteComfortable with our decision...busy I can handle, 'waiting' not so good at!
ReplyDeletehandover is around the corner..thats fantastic news!
ReplyDeleteAw Deb - what a bummer!!! Agree with Janine. Totally not worth rushing into it now. Plus you'll have all of us on your doorstep demanding a coffee - all too soon - so enjoy the peace while you can get it :)
ReplyDeleteSo close to test us Tonia.
ReplyDeleteAfter 'discussions' and some 'ranting' I felt better. Trades need to understand first attempt is not a dress rehearsal! No pressure from Carlisle to Handover until 100% satisfied.
Reinsey, how did you go with door height etc.?
Well I just don't know Deb. Have decided to take a very loosely based- kind of work related - road trip today, that magically happens to take us past the estate. Might as well call in to the block/house on the way and check what they're up to!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks a good day for a detour weather wise. Last night was wet and miserable so didn't see if you have windows. Will miss daylight saving.
ReplyDeleteDidn't look as though we had windows, but that was at about 11am this morning, so who knows how much progress they made for the rest of the day! Only a crew of 2 today. The first 2 trusses were half up, but that's the end of our second week of framing and its still not done.
ReplyDeleteSo close Debra..you go girl...nothing but the best. We are all living the handover through you he he:)
ReplyDeleteOh Sandrine, so draining....another RANT today, seriously so little to do - just concentrate and finish it.
ReplyDeleteThe co-ordination of returning trades is the holdup - measure twice cut once lessons!!
SS not available Tuesday/Wednesday and we will not Handover until our Inspector has gone thru with CM - Thursday?
I may have a phone line before a house.
Deb I would be tearing my hair out if I were you. SS not available? is he too busy rushing other builds which will probably have mistakes at the end. What about customer service - go out of his way to make the time so that you can move in ASAP. Also wasting your valuable holidays while he is swanning around doing what???? I feel your frustration just as I am frustrated with our builder, the 21 days is up next week and apart from an email saying congratulations on your building permit, I have heard nothing. We are away in SA this weekend still need to pit up our sign but won't until we know a commencement date.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to calm down now and finish my cup of tea.
Morning Janine, tightly holding onto my coffee!! You saw my H1 Post at 2.00 a.m. when I tested my anger management skills?
ReplyDeleteWe are furious, yes Carlisle are rectifying everything but sooooo drawn out. Four months to construct and one month to rectify what has been a total of '4 days work'!
I had Kevin booked for late Wednesday - doesn't suit, won't be ready. All inspect 3.00 p.m. Thursday and then rush to office for Final Payment, I don't think so! If not completed late Wednesday for Kevin what will change in less than 24 hours other than I hope, a clean....
for us to walk thru Thursday with our SS for Handover! Appliances?? think!!!!! Friday.
Really disappointed everything scheduled in such a short time in a mad rush when our house has been sitting for a month whilst Carlisle schedules Handover 'wish dates'. Ggggrrrrr
I was wondering when your 21 days was up - not good communication. Site start probably means a Portaloo or Bin will be delivered!!...any taps yet?
