Just the Two of Us

Just the Two of Us

After 35+ years of marriage, two wonderful sons, living and working in Australia, Sweden, UK and USA we are now 'just the two of us' plus a very spoilt Shitzu.

Following five years at The Sandhurst Club it is time to downsize. Our criteria - build a new home in a development within ten minutes of John's Sandhurst Golf Club, access to Monash and Eastlink Freeways, all new infrastructure and proposed services, recycled water and no Management Company or Body Corporate Fees.

We invite you to view our journey as we build with Carlisle Homes our 'Savannah 28' at 'The Avenue at Casey', a masterplanned community meeting all our criteria.

HANDOVER EVE and 10,000 Bloggers

Who would have thought my little House Blog would create such interest?
The power of social networking.

Thank You to all who have read, scoffed, cringed, enjoyed, laughed, learnt, blogged by mistake and in particular 'commented' on the build of  'Our Savannah 28'.  It has been an almost daily enjoyment to share the trials and tribulations of the construction and journey to our new home.

In this crazy, all consuming 'building a new house' part of our life the networking support and friendships I have made along the way are truely inspirational and certainly at times kept 'its just a house' in perspective.

As we approach Handover I look forward to following my fellow 'Buildees' journey whilst sharing (the occassional) turning our 'House into a Home'.

Happy Homes
Debra

  1. Deb, you've just made me cry!
It's been such a pleasure to watch your beautiful house come to life. Thank you for sharing so openly. My build will be a much better experience as a result. But mostly, thank you for your friendship. I never expected our little online community to forge such a close bond.
This feels like a farewell :(
How fortunate am I to have you living 2 streets away??

  2. Reinsey, You and Janine were the ones who prompted me to start a Blog on the house.....
    eeeeek! look what you created!
Please don't cry...I've done that this week.
No farewell, the start of a new lifestyle for us all.
Now if Telstra could just get me connected it will save John's boxers up that pole, coz me and mobile's don't gel.
PS - feature stone wall started today at roundabout and some nature strips have trees, finally!

  5. Oh Deb words escape me at this point. I feel so lucky to have met all my future neighbors through the power of social networking. I know more people in my future new neighborhood than I do here in my current neighborhood of 32 years. Cannot wait until we are all together. I know I will be the last one in and look forward to sharing our experience with people who understand the ups and downs of building a house. I know we will all be great friends and we already have so much in common. God bless us all.

    Good luck for tomorrow!

  6. Morning Janine,
You'll get there too with the same network support and friendships to share excitement and frustrations. Big change for you after 32 years.

I am looking at my sea of boxes which over the years I have packed soooo many times in my role of domestic project engineer; (that's for John) can't imagine the emotions you will experience.

    'H' Day - I hope.
Spoke to SS late yesterday, we had a laugh....I've turned him into a wreck this last month. Such a nice young man even when I yelled, bless him.
