Just the Two of Us

Just the Two of Us

After 35+ years of marriage, two wonderful sons, living and working in Australia, Sweden, UK and USA we are now 'just the two of us' plus a very spoilt Shitzu.

Following five years at The Sandhurst Club it is time to downsize. Our criteria - build a new home in a development within ten minutes of John's Sandhurst Golf Club, access to Monash and Eastlink Freeways, all new infrastructure and proposed services, recycled water and no Management Company or Body Corporate Fees.

We invite you to view our journey as we build with Carlisle Homes our 'Savannah 28' at 'The Avenue at Casey', a masterplanned community meeting all our criteria.

Carlisle Checklist and Independent Inspection Report

Following PCI our 'Inspection Checklist' and 'New Homes Inspection' Report is being assessed by Carlisle Homes. Construction Manager and Site Supervisor are to meet on-site followed by a meeting with us.
Due to Labour Day weekend this will probably stretch into next week.

All outstanding Contract items minus Handover appliances are now complete including front pier light and telephone trenching/Madison box.
Trenching man informed me Telstra are yet to run their cable down all Streets!
Wonder what Century that will be?

Trust he missed the water pipes

  1. Oh Deb, this stage must be just as frustrating as my stage, so near, but yet so far. I cannot believe Telstra would have only run cables down certain streets. You had better get on to them about that. Don't you hate public holidays, it does delays everything. Hopefully the remedies won't take too long and you can get handover soon. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. :(

  2. We gave Carlisle two full days with Inspectors Report - until we meet don't know their intentions. An abrupt jolt to an otherwise smooth build. Will organize Kevin again once rectified. Certainly thrown my schedule into disarray. Frustrating time but we will wait and stand firm according to the Report.

And as for Telstra....can you believe that. My neighbours have been waiting for Telstra to contact re phone connection. OMG the wiring isn't even in the pits!!!

  3. Phone; reckon you've got 2 options here Deb. The previously mentioned flag pole system of communication (I've got a hilarious vision of you hoisting Johns boxers up the pole) OR you could charge up that mobile of yours and become a tekky (not a trekky, although Im not here to judge).

  4. Thats a good visual Reinsey....you know what I'm like with a mobile, do I have to read a boring operational manual???

Apparently Telstra are afraid of people stealing their copper pipe in the pits and wait for occupancy of houses. Some sick people out there!!

  5. Oh what a pain, hopfully you will be able to get telstra to fix the problem as soon as possible its such a silly situation with the phone lines in the first place!!!
I hope Carlisle get back out there so you can move into your beautiful new home soon Deb :) positive thinking, you have had such a great build fingers crossed it stays that way!!

  6. Tash, I don't want to talk to Telstra - I could write a 'war and peace' novel on previous dealings!! Never get the same 'consultant', never find your reference number, wrong info.....etc... Can someone else please sort this out or at Reinsey's suggestion John will be less boxers!
Yes we've had a dream build and love the house - waiting for Carlisle to rectify according to Independent Report.
Looks like Janine and you will be building buddies with Reinsey a nose in front - I shall enjoy watching all three.

  7. 'Wonder what century that will be' - LMAO!

    Thanks for the laugh ;)

Hope you are in quickly, waiting is the PITS! (And not the empty Telstra pits either!)

  8. We need an Avenue sweepstake...
    $10 a ticket...
Name and date of first to hand over...
Sweep winner = correct build + nearest the date.
Sweep loser has to wash John's boxers!

    Takers?????

  9. Shayne, I'm glad we're amusing you, how else would we all keep sane! Waiting is the pits and the pits to Telstra too.

Reinsey, Avenue Sweepstake? - lead up to Labour Day weekend when nothing gets done as everyone is on leave. Upon return, a week is now required for assessing what they didn't achieve because Labour Day weekend planning was priority. Followed closely by the lead up to Easter, OMG who would dare gamble, save us all.
No activity on your frame yet?

  11. Reinsey, you must try and find time. All your hard work and waiting finally coming together - very exciting. Is your CLE giving more accurate information?

  14. I came across your blog through H1. Notice you have no Telstra cable in the street. We have the same problem over here in Williams Landing (Laverton). The reason is because of the NBN. Telstra are supposedly not putting in copper until the Govt sort out who is getting the contract to build the NBN. Our developer informed the NBN people that our estate needs more cable laid. Some residents have copper but it was halted 4 doors up from us and any further stages until sorted our. We are at the mercy of the NBN now. Hope this explains why no copper.
