Just the Two of Us

Just the Two of Us

After 35+ years of marriage, two wonderful sons, living and working in Australia, Sweden, UK and USA we are now 'just the two of us' plus a very spoilt Shitzu.

Following five years at The Sandhurst Club it is time to downsize. Our criteria - build a new home in a development within ten minutes of John's Sandhurst Golf Club, access to Monash and Eastlink Freeways, all new infrastructure and proposed services, recycled water and no Management Company or Body Corporate Fees.

We invite you to view our journey as we build with Carlisle Homes our 'Savannah 28' at 'The Avenue at Casey', a masterplanned community meeting all our criteria.

Are We There Yet?....Please!

Frustrated Woman Pulling Her Hair OutWhat a long month it has been - Carlisle Homes due to rectification and incomplete work have scheduled and missed our Handover date twice
(11th and 25th March).

We think Handover is now scheduled for this Thursday/Friday?

Our Independent Inspector was able to inspect late Wednesday but this did not suit Carlisle.  Apparently they are trying to contact him and reschedule......still no confirmation as to when this will take place.

Frustrating and disappointing - it has taken Carlisle four months to construct a house and one month to rectify what appears to have been approximately four days work.
SS assures, all will be correct - he needs time to make perfect.....we expected that the first time!

I have not phoned nor heard from anyone at Carlisle Homes today - got my rant out of my system and just want our Home albeit Industry Standards and Tolerances adhered to.  On my visit to house today the Painters and a Renderer were on-site - a good thing!

Could it possibly only be the Cleaners tomorrow?.....too good to be true.

  2. Hope your right Reinsey coz John's wondering where all the boxes came from and Bon's looking awfully nervous. If I see cleaners tomorrow I shall be dancing!!!

Your frame is looking mighty impressive - nice windows, big roof!

  3. Deb, I'm hearing you loud and clear - read your rant on the forum - you were very fired up!!

Fingers crossed for you. Let us know asap when you hear something.

I rang Romeo today - got the phone b...ch again, wouldnt put me through to the person we were told was our contact, but offered to help.

I asked what was happening as apart from an email over a week ago, we had heard nothing.

She advised that she was actually preparing more paperwork which we will receive tomorrow that we have to sign to state that the block is clear, pegs visible, sign up etc., then they will commence within 21 days!!!!!!

I pointed out to her that according to THEIR contract, they are required to start within 21 days of receipt of the building permit, and she didnt seem to know about this.

Am I worried - you betcha, and not a sod of earth has been turned yet.

I will be taking the signed paperwork down to Romeo myself on Thursday and will want some answers then and there.

Wonder if I will meet phone b..ch??

  4. Well two of the Avenue 'W' aren't happy, must be a full moon! You'll hear me howling if nothing happens Thursday.

I too would be at Romeo's doorstep for answers, certainly doesn't give you confidence in their communication. I thought 21 days after building permit was pretty standard. This should be fun.

And then there's Reinsey, peacefully dreaming MocChoc roof tiles and surfmist gutters? zzzzz

  6. Peaceful my ass!
We've been to hell and back with our lovely bank this past week or so. Base progress invoice STILL unpaid. Communication via bank and/or broker is waste of time. Different story every time. "Hello bank, here's my invoice. Is there anything else I need to do?" "No, we'll pay within 48 hours". Week later, "Hello bank, why isnt our invoice paid yet?" " Coz we're waiting on you to provide us with xx". "Well did you want to tell me that or was I supposed to guess?". This happens twice more until Reinsey completely loses it. I'm then given some crap about them not being able to release funds until we pay our share. " Änd how much is that?, I ask". "We don't know". So what, you want me to just pay some random amount and hope that the 28 lots of fees youve taken from our loan already add up to the balance left? We then get a figure, but we're told to send an authority letter for more than that. Why? Because they may not get around to it today and more interest will be added, therefore they may have to take more money from our account.
So it turns out that with the bs valuations they did on our build and land (build 30k less than contract, land 2K more than purchase) we're borrowing 82% of purchase - with loads of equity in our current home mind you. To fund that 22K over the 80%, its cost us 10K in mortgage insurance. SERIOUSLY!!! Banking ombudsman, here we come!
    -Rant concluded.
-And you thought I was sleeping peacefully!!

  7. Sandrine, I will have the biggest smile and keys in hand just for you...the last month will not spoil that joy for me.

Yep, confirmed....that makes The 3 Avenue 'W' not happy, definitely a full moon. Again, this is supposed to be fun!!

What a nightmare Reinsey, don't need that crap.
Hope you calm down and Bank gets their act in order so you can dream Mochoc and Surfmist.
    Yum sounds like icecream.

  8. Hoping its all green to go ahead for today Deb and your in you new home by the end of the week!!

The Avenue Ladies are not happy atm, Last week was possibly the most stresful thing i have ever had to go thru there was a whole lot of bs being talked to me which ended up in a settlement 5 days later then it should have been, and the avenue threaten to cancell our land contract 14 days after the settlement date if we had not paid them!! Ahh but all well that ends well the land is ours now, I hope there is a happy ending for everyone else and all these problems just fade away!!
