Just the Two of Us

Just the Two of Us

After 35+ years of marriage, two wonderful sons, living and working in Australia, Sweden, UK and USA we are now 'just the two of us' plus a very spoilt Shitzu.

Following five years at The Sandhurst Club it is time to downsize. Our criteria - build a new home in a development within ten minutes of John's Sandhurst Golf Club, access to Monash and Eastlink Freeways, all new infrastructure and proposed services, recycled water and no Management Company or Body Corporate Fees.

We invite you to view our journey as we build with Carlisle Homes our 'Savannah 28' at 'The Avenue at Casey', a masterplanned community meeting all our criteria.

  1. Looking great Deb! So close now! You mustn't have much more to do - Plumbing fit off? Render? Carpets?

  2. About right Shelley, plus cupboards, robes, WIR and door handles. Oh and bath - sick of cleaning frame out, why do they use it as a tip? Also, some minor issues SS is hopefully on top of. Were your carpets installed after they cleaned and ready for PCI? Appliances installed day of Handover or day before?

  3. What type of blinds have you decided on Deb?

  4. We had our house cleaned 4 days before carpets, and the carpets were installed about 10 days before PCI. They had the cleaners there the morning of PCI as well... We had our appliances installed the day of handover, but had to wait 2 days for the heating and cooling to be commissioned. It's an unbelievable feeling to lock that front door for the first time with the key (well, it was for me anyway!).
Believe it or not, but we had our 90 day inspection on Friday (at 60 days) and that night, we had water coming out of one of the downlights, and a lovely water stripe on the ceiling of the garage. Not impressed :-( But the displays at Williams Landing suffered worse! I couldn't believe that they had the displays open in that state. It looked like the alfresco ceiling on one of the double storey's had collapsed, there were water and paint marks running down the feature walls, and bubbled paint on the ceiling... Triple check that your house has survived - including in your wardrobes!!!!

  5. Tonia, Plantation Shutters (off white) Masterbedroom (front).
Timber Venetians (off white) Ensuite, Study, Bathroom, Bed 2 and 3.
Blockout Roller Blinds - Theatre and Family. Shutters take a long time so really want to move on these. Venetians will order for Handover. Blinds might wait until moved in to check colour - can turn these around in a week.

Thanks Shelley, doesn't matter what number house it is - always a good feeling 'its yours'.
What a day to have maintenance inspection!! You must have a cracked tile and or flashing not correctly sealed. Trust Carlisle are onto it quickly for you. We couldn't see any water inside the night of storm nor next day. I was in house for a couple of hours today; no evidence of water damage. I'm with you, how could they open displays in that condition!!

  6. What are you planning on doing for blinds to cover your sliding door? I still don't have anything on mine, but really, really want panel blinds for them. Your blind choices will look great! Love plantation shutters!

  7. Triple Stacker - had measured for roller blinds.
    Two blinds -
one to cover two door panes the other over one.
This configuration was recommended so one roller can be up allowing access.
Don't know much about the panels - my concern is always having a section over the window? or do they pull across over the wall?
I intend nothing on the slider initially. Had at previous house and rarely used (we overlooked a golf course)
As under Alfresco beating sun isn't an issue. Will see if need for coziness in winter or privacy if a two storey is constructed at rear.

  9. Reinsey, its quite amazing how all these finishing touches bounce light and reflections in every direction. Got a fright when I walked in the ensuite and saw me....not a grey wall!
