Just the Two of Us
Just the Two of Us
After 35+ years of marriage, two wonderful sons, living and working in Australia, Sweden, UK and USA we are now 'just the two of us' plus a very spoilt Shitzu.
Following five years at The Sandhurst Club it is time to downsize. Our criteria - build a new home in a development within ten minutes of John's Sandhurst Golf Club, access to Monash and Eastlink Freeways, all new infrastructure and proposed services, recycled water and no Management Company or Body Corporate Fees.
We invite you to view our journey as we build with Carlisle Homes our 'Savannah 28' at 'The Avenue at Casey', a masterplanned community meeting all our criteria.

BonBon's Evening Ritual
On our regular evening visit with BonBon we were pleased to see the front fascia/gutter we pointed out to Site Supervisor had been realigned. Peering through windows, caulking in wet areas and kitchen was finished.
We've had a great SS - always available, good communication and ready to discuss/rectify our concerns....a credit to Carlisle Homes.
SS called this morning with regard to surplus bricks and roof tiles prior to Site Clean on Monday - we've requested almost a pallet of bricks and stack of roof tiles to be left at rear.

It's appeared a dream build from this side of the screen Deb. I think it's also a credit to you for being so incredibly organized. I for one, have learnt so much from you. Xx
ReplyDeleteGee thanks....I've learnt to be patient (not one of my strong points) and professional but firm when dealing with SS and Carlisle. A good rapport with SS has allowed us to keep any issues to a minimum. Only one little hissy fit directed at the cabinetmaker! Credit to Carlisle, Admin sometimes can be frustrating but once Trades on site its all systems go.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Deb! Happy for you and how things worked out with you and CH. All the best with your move to the new house...
ReplyDeleteDeb, your painted render looks fantastic!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, happy with the contrast...side return wall to finish. Did you notice finally straightened the gutter/fasica? Would hope the rendering stopped as the end needs sealing.
ReplyDeleteSite clean tomorrow, once finished will post some photos.
Your site looks ready for formwork tomorrow? Can't believe how quick Fieldstone is being constructed....great for you to move in with minimal construction trucks.
Is it a 2 day process from here in terms of prep on the slab Deb? It's been a while since I've done this so can't remember the sequence. Will they box up, lay the pods and reo on one day then pour the next??
ReplyDeleteDidn't notice the fascia, was too blown away by your render..ha ha
Yes, I think the formwork was one day and slab pour the next...if not would only be one more sleep! Slab pour is really early - our guys were pulling boards off by mid morning.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the render - another colour stress ticked off.
Took John to Ambrosia today - coffee and pancakes, yum; unfortunately too cold to sit outside.
Then Good Guys, Plasma, fridge, dryer and PVR, whatever that is...he says we need one!!
Part of me wants to go down to the block (when can I start calling it the house?) every night after work, but I'd be so devastated if nothing happened. So I might just contain it to Thursdays and weekends or something!!!
ReplyDeleteWere the pancakes as good as our feast last weekend???
You sounds totally organised for the big move Deb. Much more to tick off??
Love the render colour Deb, we drove past yesterday, after picking up our contracts!!! Have spent at least a couple of hours this arvo. going through them with a fine tooth comb. Would you believe that after it being pointed out to them a number of times, they have still left the E out of Kimberley (lEy) on every piece of documentation, so David is going down to see James again tomorrow, as we will not sign until our name is correct. Still some minor points to be clarified, but we are getting closer now - thank god. Maybe have it signed next weekend, it depends how long they take to make all the amendments.
ReplyDeleteReinsey - I can totally understand your excitement and eagerness to see action.
ReplyDeletePancakes were yum, just no sunshine.
Window coverings - ordered
Built-in Theatre cabinet - ordered
Some new items - purchased
Miscellaneous decorating touches - itching to buy, holding back until in
Feature walls - still deciding
A few light fittings - not easy
Fencing - accepted
Driveway, exp agg - accepted
Alfresco and side path - Liquid Limestone, not sure - $$$$, looking at alternatives
We will take our time moving in/leaving Luke's house - would like fences, driveway and alfresco finished.
Removalists for big move booked 4th April, plenty for us to prepare before this date.
Glad you liked the Render colour - now to choose the colour/agg stone mix for driveway. Front Porch to be merbau deck.
ReplyDeleteHow frustrating with Contracts - heard it all before unfortunately, make them get it correct.
Deb, which rooms are you painting feature walls?
ReplyDeleteJanine, what have they left off your plans this time?? Sounds like you're totally on top of it though!
Feature Walls -
ReplyDeleteEntry, Masterbedroom, Family (niche), Theatre and possibly Study.
Considering Dulux:
Bogart, Mud Pack, Mud Puddle, Aumbry and Calfskin
????????
Really need Theatre done before cabinet installed - others can wait.
Deb, what size TV did you go with in the end? Reinsey - plans all OK, its the specs that have mistakes in them, only minor, but we want to both be on the same page with things, also, now they have upped the cost of stove, and slugged us with extra drafting fees, saying, well, they haven't put up the cost of the house in 10 months to us, but it has gone up $11,000 to new purchasers. Can see their point (a little) but this excuse is starting to wear thin when they give you an allowance per square metre of carpet when the allowance is quoted in lineal metres - they have just measured the rooms instead, so of course that measurement comes out in their favour. A carpet place measures on lineal metres and has to take into account minimum wastage etc. so end up being more metres than they say. My question is, why does it always happen to be to their advantage, not ours. The other sticking point we are going to argue with them is they are now charging for the bulkhead in the entry hall, which was always listed as included in the original quote - I have to work tomorrow, but David has the day off, so he will be tackling them on this one. So frustrating!!!
ReplyDeleteJanine - 50 inch....going from 42 inch which will now go in masterbedroom. We've never had/wanted TV in bedroom so will be interesting how much football and golf I am able to sleep thru. 58 inch was gorgeous - concerned too big, as we have two rows of seating (3 and 2 seater) plus with prices tumbling couldn't justify.
ReplyDeleteAlways in builders favour....get those specs accurate to the letter. Good Luck to David.
