Just the Two of Us

Just the Two of Us

After 35+ years of marriage, two wonderful sons, living and working in Australia, Sweden, UK and USA we are now 'just the two of us' plus a very spoilt Shitzu.

Following five years at The Sandhurst Club it is time to downsize. Our criteria - build a new home in a development within ten minutes of John's Sandhurst Golf Club, access to Monash and Eastlink Freeways, all new infrastructure and proposed services, recycled water and no Management Company or Body Corporate Fees.

We invite you to view our journey as we build with Carlisle Homes our 'Savannah 28' at 'The Avenue at Casey', a masterplanned community meeting all our criteria.

Alfresco and Side Path

2012 we were looking forward to completing the Alfresco and side path garden........until I fractured my ankle; slipped on a deck step (ouch!!!) taking me out of action for a number of weeks.

John soldiered on (I'm a really good supervisor) to mortar bricks around the boundary fences (houdini Shitzu) spray paint the timber paling fence plus erect reinforcement wire for the Climbing Roses and Wisteria.
Garden beds dug over adding fresh soil, nutrients and mulch.  Also, irrigation and garden light conduit installed.

Back on two feet and happy planting - Pierre Rosnard Roses, Liriopes, Climbing Fig, Silver Birch, Gardenias, Bird of Paradise, Ajuga, Native Violets and Wisteria.

So far.......with lots more to do!

    1. Thanks Shayne, Every time we transform a piece of dirt I'm a happy woman!!! But you can relate to that. We only have a tiny backyard but still takes much planning and effort.

  2. Deb, its looking absolutely brilliant!!! What will you do when its all finished with all your spare time I wonder. Perhaps stop breaking bones and sit back and smell the roses when they bloom. I am extremely envious of your progress, and John has done so well with all that expert coaching by your good self.

  3. Ho Ho! nothing to do?? I will relish the day I only have to prune the roses. PS they are a stunning colour against the painted fence. Yes, we're pleased with our progress; not breaking any more bones but they ache!!

I don't think your too far behind. Look at all your work in two months; excellent progress.

  5. Thanks Anna,

The whole area gets used; relaxing on a balmy night with the water trickling is heaven. More photos as we proceed to remainder of backyard/BBQ area etc.
