Just the Two of Us

Just the Two of Us

After 35+ years of marriage, two wonderful sons, living and working in Australia, Sweden, UK and USA we are now 'just the two of us' plus a very spoilt Shitzu.

Following five years at The Sandhurst Club it is time to downsize. Our criteria - build a new home in a development within ten minutes of John's Sandhurst Golf Club, access to Monash and Eastlink Freeways, all new infrastructure and proposed services, recycled water and no Management Company or Body Corporate Fees.

We invite you to view our journey as we build with Carlisle Homes our 'Savannah 28' at 'The Avenue at Casey', a masterplanned community meeting all our criteria.

Another Step Closer - 12 Months 'Home'

You know that dead/non traffic side; every house generally has one? - well ours is now cleaned up and easy to maintain.  This 1200mm wide path houses the HWS and with only the bathroom window having a ground view, we have granitic sanded the area except for a garden bed viewed from the bathroom. A gate will close this path from our adventurous Shitzu and conceal occasionally used garden equipment. Another step closer to no mud!!

Circular Patio Deck/Path is next......will flow from the Alfresco/Pergola surrounded by plants through the remainder of our 'lawn free' backyard.

It is 12 months since 'Handover' - update on front landscaping; a few replaced plants but all growing nicely.

  1. Its hard to imagine what your property looked like 12 months ago - what a long way you have come.

So nice to see people actually thinking about that dead side of the house and doing something with it rather than just leaving it to grow weeds because no one goes around there anyway!!!

Looking forward to seeing John's new deck in progress, then you will be able to sit back and smell the roses in no time!

    1. Agree Janine; You do have to look back at what you've achieved, always busy and it seems such a long road. Great to see it all come together. Very happy.

Back deck is on the drawing board and expect posts cemented over Easter! Oiled the front deck over the weekend; came up a treat. And those roses...growing madly.

      Do you have grass?

  2. Excellent job Debra. Good to see that the lawn is maintained and it looks fabulous. How do you keep the nature strip from the postman and car parking? :)

    1. Thanks Yam - how is everything going at your new home? updates??

Love my garden; I used to look after over an acre so this is a postage stamp for me!

I detest cars on nature strips and whilst our Street still has the occasional construction truck I keep three star pickets and rope at the kerb. Postie not a problem as we have footpaths.

    2. Rope at the kerb is a good idea :)

We actually did some work on both front-yard as well as backyard. Now we have got natural grass from HG turf. I will post some pictures soon. However, this was basically it (ran out of $$$. ha ha).
